The New ACE from MOON is a game-changing piece. The ACE was highly anticipated and it delivered. There are a lot of mediums in which to listen to music from many digital, streaming, and analog sources and each one needs a component to be played through.
So, you have your integrated amplifier, and now you need a DAC to play digital files, then you need a computer or server to get the music to the DAC. Then, if you want to stream music from an online streaming service such as Tidal you need another box to handle streaming. Maybe you acquired a turntable from your dad’s attic and bought some vinyl you’d like to play. You’d need a phono preamplifier to do that, yet ANOTHER box. We are now at four boxes and we know good cabling is as important as any other component in your system so that is four good power cords, three pairs of quality interconnects, and speaker cables to get this system up and running. That’s all great, don’t get me wrong, but maybe you want all of this facility and less components and cabling.
This is where ACE shines. They call it an all-in-one player and that is what it does, plays everything. It gives you the ability to listen to every medium of music you have and it does it all extremely well. Then you simply need one nice power cord and pair of speaker cables and you’re up and running. We have no problems teaming this piece with speakers from $1,000/pair like the Elac Uni-fi all the way up to something as accomplished as the Wilson Sabrina at $15,900/pair.
The ACE is a 50 watt/channel integrated amplifier with a self-contained DAC, phono preamplifier, and Moon’s MIND network music streamer. You can play music from online streaming services, from a NAS drive, or even hook up a turntable and spin some vinyl. With digital inputs you can hook up your TV and gaming systems for great cinema and gaming experiences. At $3,500 for a single piece that can do all of these things and do them legitimately, you’re looking at a true game changer.
