We are very pleased to offer the new 3rd generation DS-Audio Optical Phono Cartridges. We have the new 3rd Generation Model DS E3 (More on E3 HERE) Available for audition in Omaha. We are astounded at the level of performance. The price of this cartridge with the required phono stage is $2,750. This is DS Audio’s most affordable combination.

We plan to have the step-up DS 003 (More on 003 HERE) $6,000 combination in July. Each of our showrooms will have one or the other. We say “combination” because the optical cartridge requires a unique phono stage. Equalization and gain are different than a moving magnet or moving coil phono cartridge. The phono stage also provides power for the LED in the cartridge. This is required for the optical element to operate. There are several models above these two. The resulting performance is startlingly real and noise is far lower than typical moving coil cartridges and their accompanying high-gain preamplifiers.
