We have been looking for a high-performance integrated amp that provides a substantial increase in performance beyond the Arcam SA30 at $3,000 but is significantly less expensive than the Gryphon Diablo 300 at $16,000. We have now found two.
They are the 350 watt Michi X3 and the 600 watt Michi X5
We have Auditioned the Michi X3 integrated amp. After a considerable break-in period, we found the X3 to exhibit very good, very musical sound quality and to be a good value at $4,999. The Michi X3 delivers 350 watts per channel into 4-ohm loads. It includes a DAC and a phono input.
The Michi X5 delivers 600 watts per channel into 4-ohm loads. It includes a DAC as well as a moving magnet and moving coil phono input. The X5 is a robust, beautifully built amplifier that weighs in at about 100 pounds! Price is $6,999.
We will have the Michi X5 in both showrooms ready for listening in a couple of weeks.
Michi is the high-performance product group from Rotel. Rotel is a 60-year-old family-owned company from Japan. They are now represented and distributed in this country by the McIntosh Group.
The Michi line was first built by Rotel in the 1990s as their top model group. After a three-year development process Michi is back with an all-new line which includes a Preamp, Stereo Amp, Mono Amps, and two high power Integrated Amps. The first model we will bring in is the X5 integrated amp.
