GALE COOPER – THE SOUND ENVIRONMENT’S TURNTABLE SETUP EXPERT AND TECHNICIAN

The Sound Environment is pleased to announce the addition of Brinkmann to our turntable/record player offerings. Brinkmann is a German manufacturer that has been in business for 38 years, founded by Helmut Brinkmann in 1985. Brinkmann is well-established and strongly supported in this country.

Gale Cooper, our record player expert and technician has been hard at work evaluating Brinkmann for the last three months and has given the brand his seal of approval. We have selected two models for demonstration that we found to represent high-value options for our clients. We are showing the Taurus with 12.1″ tonearm ($22,590) in our Omaha Showroom and the Bardo with 10″ tonearm ($12,990) in our Kansas City Showroom. These prices are a substantial saving over the price of the turntable and arm individually – $1,290 saving on the Taurus and $990 on the Bardo.

These prices do not include cartridge or phono cable. Talk to your TSE Consultant about appropriate matches. We are initially showing the Taurus with a Lyra Etna phono cartridge ($8,995) and the Nordost Valhalla 2 phono cable ($5,400). We are showing the Bardo with a Lyra Kleos phono cartridge ($3,695) and Transparent Ultra phono cable ($1,800). These are appropriate phono cartridges and cables for these turntables. However, you could put a less expensive phono cartridge and cable on either turntable if that is what your budget initially allows.

We offer higher-performance record players and a variety of less expensive ones – get what fits your budget and system. We also take trades on record players. Work with your Consultant to determine what path is best for you.

CRITICALLY IMPORTANT

A phono cartridge must be installed by an expert. The idea that you can buy a high-performance phono cartridge and install it yourself is mistaken. Unfortunately, some merchants offer high-performance phono cartridges in the $5,000 to $10,000 range with that implied. If you attempt this, you will not get the sound you paid for. On top of that, an improperly installed phono cartridge can damage your records. Phono cartridge installation by our experienced technician is included when you purchase a record player from us, ensuring the ideal playback of your records.
